Today we woke up to the stunning views around us. 7000m peaks. A group of us hiked up to a view point of a glacier and the majestic Annapurna peaks. Clear sky's and snow capped mountains made for some beautiful pictures. It was nice to head out casually with out our bikes on our back. Some chilling at the bakery for choc. cake and coffee made for a relaxing day. Most people worked on their bikes getting them ready for the finial stretch. The mud, sand, dust and huge amount of climbing and descents have taken a beating on the bikes. So far so good for my Specialized Era. New brake pads were in order but other then that it's been great. I was so stoked to have found my bike already washed for me today. Those Nepali boys are too kind :)
I'm feeling really good and happy to have my health. To see some of the strongest riders here face illness makes a scary reality of your race quickly ending. This is not the type of race you can just drop out from. With no road access and hazardous winds it's true back country and very remote. I'm hoping this day of rest helps some who are suffering to carry on other wise this is the point to turn back at now.
